01 / OVERVIEW

Know what your systems are doing.

TheWatcher brings agents, metrics, and operator workflows together. Agents initiate connections, send measurements and heartbeats, and request their current configuration.

The server stores monitoring data and exposes an API for the React dashboard. The project includes build and operation guidance for Windows, Linux, and BSD, with release milestones still in progress.

02 / PROJECT FOCUS

What the work involves.

01

System visibility

User-space collectors report CPU, memory, disk, process, and network metrics. The server records metric snapshots, status history, and alerts.

02

Agent management

Enrollment approval, configuration changes, and operator commands use agent-initiated connections. Operators can inspect pending agents and their current state.

03

An operator dashboard

The React interface brings together monitoring, enrollment, configuration, alerts, users and groups, views, runbooks, and maintenance workflows.

03 / CURRENT STATE

Read the limits.

Alpha is still in progress. Beta and a production release are planned.

  • The progress tracker is the source of truth for release readiness.
  • PostgreSQL support is planned. The current server uses SQLite.
  • Supported production dashboard hosting, recovery procedures, and load testing remain on the release tracker.
